Permanent Care Fees

Set out below is a summary of the fees associated for permanent and respite care.  Depending on your financial situation these fees can be complex, and we recommend you seek advice from an accredited financial advisor to ensure you can make the best possible decision about your aged care.

Basic Daily Care Fee

All residents are required to pay the Basic Daily Care Fee (BDCF).  This fee is used to contribute towards day-to-day living costs such as meals, cleaning, laundry, heating and cooling, etc.

The maximum Basic Daily Care Fee is $51.21 per day, calculated at 85% of the Basic Age Pension.  This fee is paid fortnightly or monthly in advance and is calculated from the day you enter Murray Haven Homes Inc.

Means Tested Care Fee

Non-Supported residents are required to pay the Means Tested Care Fee (MTCF) as an additional contribution towards the cost of daily care.  The MTCF is set by the Department of Human Services, based on an income and assets assessment.

Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC)

Partially Supported residents are required to pay the Daily Accommodation Contribution (DAC) as an additional contribution towards the cost of daily care.  The DAC is set by the Department of Human Services, based on an income and assets assessment.

Residential Accommodation Deposit (RAD)

Partially and Non-Supported Residents are required to pay a fully refunded Residential Accommodation Deposit (RAD) for daily accommodation.  The RAD is set by the Department of Human Services, based on an income and assets assessment.

Residents can pay their accommodation price in full as a lump sum RAD payment, monthly payments as a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) or a combination of both.  Currently, Murray Haven Homes has set the RAD at a maximum of $450,000.  Options for payment of RAD are set out below.

Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP)

The Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) is a payment for accommodation, paid monthly in advance, similar to paying rent.  The DAP is based on a legislated formula that converts the RAD to a DAP and is not refunded when the resident leaves the facility or decides to pay a RAD.

The Interest Rate is set by the Department of Social Services at the date of entry and is currently 5.96%. Interest will be charged on any fees that are not paid by the due date.  The current maximum DAP for Murray Haven Homes Inc. is $73.47. Options for payment of DAP are set out below

Accommodation payment options for Non-Supported Residents
Residents may elect to provide a combination of RAD and DAP to suit their financial circumstances.

Option 1: Full Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD)

Pay the total amount ($450,000) of the Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) within 6 months of entry to the facility.  DAP is charged from the date of entry until RAD is paid.

Option 2: Full Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP)

Pay the total amount of the Refundable Accommodation Deposit RAD as a DAP from date of entry to the facility.

i.e.          $450,000 X 5.96% = $73.47 per day

Option 3: Combination of RAD and DAP

Pay a lump-sum amount as a RAD and a monthly amount as a DAP based on the agreed accommodation payment.

Example 1.          $200,000 RAD and $250,000 DAP

$250,000 X 5.96% = $40.82 per day

Example 2.          $300,000 RAD and $150,000 DAP

$150,000 X 5.96% = $24.49 per day
